Our Story

The Real Peas & Carrots...
We all know how messy life can be. There’s life and death, love and loss, good days and bad. And, the harder you try to be perfect, the more of a mess life becomes, or so it seems. I know many people who try to project the picture perfect life. They are happily married. They have the perfect children. Their careers are skyrocketing. They go on the most amazing vacations. They indulge in the finest cuisine. At least this is what they present on social media and to their circles. Those are the stories they divulge as you share casual conversations over a glass of wine, but we all know that deep down there are dark spaces in every life.
Well, we're no different! On social media, and sometimes to our friends, we try to put our best foot forward by sharing our favorite pictures and half stories as the highlight reel of our life together. But, behind the "glitz & glam" that we share on Facebook, there are many other experiences that will paint a much deeper picture of our story, and some of it isn't all that pretty. First off, we aren't married. That’s right. We can both be referred to as the dreaded word, “divorcees.” In fact, we've both been through two painful divorces. Between us we have four kids ranging in age from 8 to 15 years old. We go on vacations, but we both tend to be a little more frugal, so they are often more down to earth and less extravagant, like camping or short trips to Vegas. We indulge in some amazing meals on occasion, but most of the time, I cook simple dishes that can feed six people after a busy workday. I love cooking, but in reality, at the end of the day, I’m exhausted.
There’s no glamour in that!
Despite our attempts to live a spectacular life, reality always sets in. That's why I'm here. To share our stories from a "Real" perspective. No bullshit. No frills. Just the simple truth about the love we have for each other and how we found it after many years of heartache. I'll share the simple truth about our family life. As amazing as it is (we really do love our life), there are challenges that take us to the fringe. They have us pulling out our hair and leave us with no gas in the tank after a long day. But, these are our most honest and humbling moments. I want to share the love, the chaos, and the lows with you so that you know you're not alone. We've climbed the highest peaks and trudged through some pretty dank valleys.
And, I believe we have a truly amazing story to tell.

I hope you'll join us on our journey. I hope you'll share the smiles and even shed some tears as these stories resonate with you.
